I do like this bathmat a lot… But I do have some issues… I noticed that along the sides, on the edges there was some peeling or places where it looked like threads were coming off, also. I have only had it for a week or two, but it seems to be warped now, and does not sit completely flat on my floor but rocks back and forth depending where I stand on it. Not entirely sure if there is a way to fix this, but a suggestion would be bigger nonslip pads, as I am also having issues with it sliding around on my bathroom tile floor unless I get it into a specific position and then it stays put most of the time, but not all the time! The price is high… but if the artisans are paid well, and it is sourced ethically it is worth it. I am interested to see if there are any fixes for the issues I’ve had, but overall it’s great. I couldn’t find one that was as pretty and as big for less money though. So I’ll stick with this one. The only annoying thing is that after you use it you do need to pick it up off the floor to make sure that the water that drips through doesnt soak into the wood and stay there, as well as wipe it off after every use. If there were some type of thin, absorbent or some other type of product that could go under this, be low visibility and soak up the water that would be great! Maybe diatomaceous earth? No idea… But overall its pretty good. Looks nice, but the unevenness of it being warped is really putting a damper on my love of the product…
Ryder, Thank you so much for your detailed note and honest feedback. This makes us better in every way. Our Hinoki bath mats are designed to withstand everyday use for years to come, so the warping you’ve experienced should have never happened. Our Client Experience Team will reach out directly to facilitate a replacement to help make this right. We have also passed along your notes to our Head of Design, and she is going to work with our artisan partners in Japan to triple check the latest batch quality, design standard, and anything else that could have caused this rare occurrence. We are always looking to improve, and your thoughtful comments help us do just that. Thank you for your support, and here’s to creating beautiful spaces (and spa-like bath retreats) together. Sincerely, The Citizenry Team
Nice smell and sanded wood. It is unpolished, and I use it in the kitchen to give me a little height boost, so it stains easily.
Well-crafted, clean aesthetics and easier to move (not as heavy as teak wood.) On the expensive side but you get what you pay for.
I was hesitant to purchase the mats due to their high price point. I am very happy with the Hinoki mats. They elevate the look and feel of my black and white bathroom. They feel great on my feet too.
No regrets. Worth the spending. High quality
