Handcrafted in Argentina by
One cannot easily claim "heirloom quality," but we use the term to describe our handcrafted chair - without reservation.
Our Palermo Tripolina Chair's cover is made of thick 100% Argentinian vegetable-tanned polo saddle leather that, like a fine wine, ages beautifully. All hand-dyed and stitched in a small workshop in Buenos Aires. The supporting frame is hand-carved from high quality guindo wood, a lightweight but incredibly durable timber, and assembled with iron hardware. Its compactness when folded makes it easy to take along on any adventure, without suffering style or comfort.
Originally designed in 1855 by a British engineer, the ‘Tripolina’ style became widely known in Europe as an officer’s chair used on military campaigns. But it also grew in popularity with safari hunters, explorers, and adventurers worldwide.
Notable for its elegant form and versatile function, this chair serves as a stylish addition to any living space or companion on your next journey.

I wanted a low profile chair to put next to my bedroom window, and the Palermo Tripolina was just right. Like others have mentioned, it does crack and squeak when you shift, but that is to be expected with any leather seats. Shipping was quick, assembly was exceptionally easy, and it's lightweight and easy to move. What makes it almost perfect instead of perfect? I just need an ottoman to rest my feet on. Then it will be the perfect reading chair.
Chair is excellent quality- the leather is beautiful and it's got character, you can tell it's handmade. Felt a little light-colored at first but has darkened and aged beautifully, I suspect it'll continue that way for a while. I've worked on my laptop for hours in it without getting uncomfortable. I've gotten a lot of compliments from visiting friends. Only things I wish were different: the wood is a little on the light-colored side (I may consider lightly staining it at some point), and the leather creaks a bit if you move around. Not really deal-breakers for me.
I like the organic materials of this chair. The style echoes an earlier era of adventure yet still feels modern in functionality and its clean lines. On the practical side, a good leather oil/cream treatment will be helpful to soften & protect the leather and for persons who have shorter legs, a foot stool of some sorts will add to the comfort. Glad to have this chair which can easily be moved as needed for quick extra seating.
