Meticulously hand-braided from locally-sourced palm leaves, this storage hamper is the ideal stash-everything catch-all - laundry, towels, toys, you name it. Topped with a fitted lid and leather handles, this guy makes hauling clothes to the laundromat or dry cleaners a breeze.
Handcrafted by a cooperative of master artisans in Guerrero, Mexico, each hamper takes three days to complete. All made start-to-finish in a fair trade environment.

United StatesThis is the 3rd Mercado Hamper I've purchased in 2020. The first 2 hampers worked out great. Look great. The lid fits. The 3 hamper was stretched out at top making the circumference of the basket wider than normal therefore the lid does NOT fit. I've returned it and asked for a new Mercado Hamper & Lid. NOW THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK!!! I've been give a credit but I just want a new Mercado Hamper. I've requested notification when you have them back in stock. Given the fact that I ordered this basket MONTHS ago and now apparently it will take MONTHS to get them back in stock, I would really appreciate being notified immediately when they are available so I can re-order. Candidly, since this issue is a Citizenry issue, it would be nice if you held one of the Mercado Hamper's & Lid for me and then notified me to place a re-order so that I can be assured of receiving the basket before they sell out again...
Hi Barbara, Thank you for your note — although we’re so sorry that this was your experience. At times, due to the handwoven nature of the baskets, inconsistencies in terms of size can occur. But still. The lid being entirely too small should never have happened. These are some of our most popular baskets and do take time for our artisan partners to make by hand.
