One cannot easily claim "heirloom quality," but we use the term to describe our handcrafted chair - without reservation.
Our Palermo Tripolina Chair's cover is made of thick 100% Argentinian vegetable-tanned polo saddle leather that, like a fine wine, ages beautifully. All hand-dyed and stitched in a small workshop in Buenos Aires. The supporting frame is hand-carved from high quality guindo wood, a lightweight but incredibly durable timber, and assembled with iron hardware. Its compactness when folded makes it easy to take along on any adventure, without suffering style or comfort.
Originally designed in 1855 by a British engineer, the ‘Tripolina’ style became widely known in Europe as an officer’s chair used on military campaigns. But it also grew in popularity with safari hunters, explorers, and adventurers worldwide.
Notable for its elegant form and versatile function, this chair serves as a stylish addition to any living space or companion on your next journey.

The chair is beautiful, the craftsmanship is remarkable. That said - It’s not usable straight out of the box. When first set up, the chair is literally so slippery you slide right off of it. The leather is so stiff and inflexible, making the chair really uncomfortable. You can tell that this will be wonderful once the leather is broken in, but to do that will take time, effort, conditioning of the leather, etc. I was expecting (especially based on reviews) for this chair to be comfortable from the start and that just isn’t the case at all

United StatesLeather turns orange over time
We love citizenry products. We have saved up for every single piece we own because they are always worth it. This one unforunately misses the mark. We bought this for our guestroom and it has not been in direct sunlight at any point. But the color of the leather has turned orangey since we bought it in November 2021, you can tell the original color from the pillow that was sitting on top. It is also not very comfortable. The leather is very hard, so you tend to slide off it, even with an ottoman. I wish we had returned it right away but I was so motivated to get our guestroom done before our guests arrived that I didn't listen to my gut. Aesthetically the chair is a beautiful piece, it's just not functional and basically needs to be in a dark room with curtains so the color doesn't change over time.
