Love the look, but wood is turning

I love the look of this bath runner. However, I’ve only had it about a week, maybe two, and already the wood is developing dark spots from water damage. It looks possibly like mold? I can’t really tell but the short of it is, I’m surprised it wasn’t sealed with sealant as it’s a bath mat.

Wood Bath Runner

The wood bath runner is very simplistic and beautiful and it was the perfect size for our bathroom. We love the look, the smooth feel on our feet, and low-maintenance.

Almost perfect

So I have conflicting emotions about this bath runner. After waiting months for it to come back in stock, I was finally able to order it at the end of the year. It arrived quickly and I loved it at first sight! The aesthetics are really beautiful and I love not having to worry about a musty bath rug. However. It squeaks something awful! As soon as you set one foot on it the wood makes this grating squeaking noise. I was hoping that it just needed to ‘break-in’ for a bit, but no, 4 months later and it is as loud as ever. We have it in our master bath adjacent to our bedroom that gets frequent daily use, so I’m thinking that I may just have to move it to another area of the house where it can sit and look pretty but be out of the way of traffic to save our ears.

The Citizenry

Hi Tiffany, Thank you so much for your note, and we’re so sorry that this piece isn't as expected. That’s not the experience we strive to create, and we’re working with our team to ensure these beauties are settling as they should- without the squeaks. We spoke with our Client Experience Team and they'll be reaching out shortly to offer some advice and find a resolution for you. But in the meantime, if there is anything else we can do at all, please do not hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, The Citizenry Team
