Known as the “Land of Leather,” the village of Alcanena is the hub of Portugal’s leather industry. It’s here you’ll find brothers, Luis and Pedro, and their renowned leather workshop. Started by their grandfather about 85 years ago, the workshop originally focused on tanning, mastering the ins and outs of preparing and finishing leather hides.
Luis and Pedro wanted to take their craft one step further – to actually create products with these high-quality, vegetable-tanned leathers. They first began with making riding saddles and bridles, hunting accessories, then high-end handbags, and now home decor.
Armed with a deep knowledge of the tanning process and the leather itself, their products highlight the material’s intrinsic beauty. From cutting and sewing to finishing, they approach each step with care and artistry, challenging themselves to bring out the unique texture, weight, and hue of the leather. Each product is a work of art - no two are alike.
