These women have the art of weaving down pat. Somehow, they make the intricate patterns and complex technique look effortless.
We met with one of the group’s master weavers, Anastacia, to learn more about the process. As we looked on, we were so impressed with how her nimble fingers just glided across the loom – row after row, she skillfully wove in each thread until all of the sudden, a beautiful design emerged.
But, this craft doesn’t come easily. Passed down through generations of Mayans, this ancient technique takes years to perfect. Anastacia told us all about how her mother taught her to weave at a young age, and she plans to teach her daughters one day.
