How to Style Your Guest Room image

Pretty hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner. It feels like we just blinked, and all of the sudden we’re here, scrambling to get the house ready for holiday guests rolling in to town.

This year, we’ve enlisted the help of one of our favorite interior designers, Claire Zinnecker, to share a few tips for getting your home guest-ready. With a few updates here and there, you’ll be well on your way to a guest room oasis that rivals a five-star luxury resort.

1 // A resort-style guest room starts with a comfortable bed. Layer the bed with blankets and pillows to keep your guests extra comfy. Be sure to stow a few blankets in a closet or by the bed for chillier nights.

2 // It’s the little luxuries that go a long way in making your guest feel like they’re on vacation. Fresh flowers, scented candles, maybe even a pillow mint or two – those sorts of indulgences make the space feel like a departure from the everyday.

3 // Set up a corner nook with a comfy chair to give guests a spot to kick back during their stay. It also doubles as a place to store a bag, lay clothes, or put on shoes.

4 // One of the best parts about a hotel is having everything you need is right at your fingertips. Beyond the essentials of water, shampoo/conditioner, and towels, try to think through some of the more obscure needs your guest may run into during their stay. How about a place to stow jewelry? Or a coat rack? A charging station for their electronics? Anticipating those things will make your guest feel comfortable and right at home.

5 // When it comes to the guest bath, think zen. All it takes is some fresh-scented lotions or soaps, a bit of greenery, and maybe some herbal tea, and you’ve got yourself a little spa retreat.
