Guest Room Ideas image

It's that time of year again – time to gear up for houseguests. This year, we want you to be on top of your guest room game. We've teamed up with Liz Bachman of Grey & Scout to round up a few tips and essentials for making sure your guests feel right at home. And as a bonus, these pointers are pretty much guaranteed to secure your title as the best host ever.

1 // Give your bed a little update with new pillows, sheets, or a duvet cover. Nothing says welcome home quite like fresh bedding. For extra warmth and texture, add a cozy throw at the foot of the bed.

2 // No need to go overboard here, but think through some of the essentials that your guests may need during their stay – water, phone charger, Advil, chap stick, and maybe even a little snack. Lay it all out on the bedside table so they don’t have to hunt things down.

3 // With chillier nights up ahead, you’ll want to be sure to have some extra blankets on hand. There’s nothing worse than stumbling around in the middle of the night looking for a blanket. So, make sure they’re in plain sight to avoid stubbed toes and bruises.

4 // Freshen up the space by styling a few plants and flowers throughout the room. Just a little greenery here and there instantly makes the space feel more warm and inviting.

5 // Look for ways to make their trip feel like an actual vacation. One simple option is to create a cozy reading nook. All you need is a comfy chair, a throw, and some of your favorite books and magazines.

6 // And don’t forget about the bathroom! Fresh towels, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrush – these little touches go a long way.
