The Mexico Collection is a milestone in many ways. It represents 1,500 miles of travel across 8 cities – the most we’ve ever covered in one country. It’s also the most artisan partners we’ve ever brought on at one time. Mexico is the first collection to launch with our new team on board. And it’s all happening exactly one year after we launched the company.

It seemed only fitting to start this next chapter with a story we’ve been craving to tell since the beginning. Most people know Mexico as the land of picturesque beaches, endless margaritas, and gobs of guacamole. While we certainly love ALL those things, we wanted to shine a light on a different side of the country…

In particular, we want to highlight the country’s rich artisanal culture. Each region produces a distinct set of products based on its history and raw materials. Some towns even specialize in just one product: from leather in Leon to textiles in Chiapas.

To celebrate those flavors of diversity, we decided to travel the whole country – from Mexico City and Guadalajara to Oaxaca and The Yucatan. And even with 1,500 miles and 8 artisan groups under our belt, we feel like we’ve only scratched the surface. With each new region that we explored, we stumbled upon a new design technique, a new material, or a new source of inspiration.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sharing these stories from the road. From renegade designers in Mexico City to Zapotec weavers in Oaxaca, we’re excited to introduce you to these inspiring makers. Our hope is that you won’t just fall in love with the pieces from the collection, but also with the people and places behind them.
