When we first met with Oscar and Pauline in their Coyoacán design studio, we were taken aback by the amount of creativity housed between these two. One flip through their sketchbooks, and you’ll understand just how talented they are – page after page of architectural details, graphic patterns, and even a few off-the-wall doodles.

We’ve partnered with this Mexico City studio for a few years now, and together, we’ve created some incredible pieces – each one is the perfect marriage of classic Mexican design and modern style sensibility.

Perhaps the most iconic design we’ve created together is the Aldama Chair. Inspired by the classic Acapulco chair, this piece elevates the beachside mainstay with a streamlined frame complemented by a luxe, natural leather seat. This beauty is sure to steal the show wherever it goes.

Today, they're sharing the story behind this chair. From the design inspiration to the construction technique, they’re giving us an inside look at all that goes into bringing this piece to life.

It’s designers like Oscar and Pauline who remind us why we started this crazy adventure of The Citizenry. We are pretty lucky to partner with such talented artists, creatives, and dreamers around the world – to share their stories and bring their designs home to you!
