The temps have officially dropped to arctic levels (for us, that means below 50 degrees)... Time to grab the chunkiest blanket you can find and cozy up with a festive drink in hand.
Today, tastemaker Caitlin Flemming of Sacramento Street is sharing her favorite holiday drink recipe (made in collaboration with San Fran's As Quoted coffee shop). It's got ALL the good stuff – chocolate, peppermint, and a kick of espresso.
Here's how it's done...
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
3/4 cup of milk (almond milk, regular milk, etc)
3 tbsp. drinking chocolate
1/4 tsp. alcohol free peppermint extract*
2 tbsp. liquid sweetener (optional)
1 double shot of espresso
Whipped cream and/or marshmallows, for garnish
WARM IT UP
Warm milk in a saucepan over low heat.
MIX IT TOGETHER
In a separate saucepan, whisk drinking chocolate, peppermint extract, espresso shot, and sweetener (if desired) until all is mixed together. Then, combine this mixture with the warmed milk.
SERVE IT UP
Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream, marshmallows, or a candy cane for a festive (and sweet!) touch!
*If your extract contains alcohol, you may add this to the milk before warming.
